The Sports Authority of India (SAI) recently released a new Guideline Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to restart the game.
It has strict rules for contact sports (which require fellow players). Due to this, Indian wrestlers will not be able to train right now. They will have to wait for the national camp.
The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) is not starting a national camp due to stricter regulations. The Federation has asked wrestlers for fitness training at their own level. The federation does not want to take any risk keeping in mind the health of the players.
Strict rules were also made for gym
WFI Assistant Secretary Vinod Tomar said, “Strict restrictions have been imposed in SOP. The rules made for wrestling say that you have to clean the wrestling mats after every use. Without a partner, you can only train with a dummy. There are also many restrictions on gym activities. “
It is not possible to follow these rules in wrestling
Tomar said, “It is not possible to follow all these rules in a wrestling camp. This issue was discussed and it was felt that there is no necessary point and no serious training for the wrestlers coming to the camp. It is best that we wait for the lockdown to end and the SAI guidelines to be relaxed. “
Challenging to train without a partner
Due to Kovid-19, all the camps were closed from 25 March. Olympic medalist Sakshi Malik has also said that one should not rush to set up camp due to Corona. He said that it is challenging to train without a partner.
