The Golf Association of India (IGU) recommended his name. Professional institutions – The Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) and the Women’s Golf Association of India (WGAI) often send their recommended names to IGU.

Rashid missed a personal bronze medal at the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou, but he helped the Indian team win a silver medal. He is the best ranked Indian golfer in Asia from 10th place. He is also the top Indian in the world ranking from 185th place.
