London Olympics bronze medalist MC Mary Kom has said that her only goal at this time is to win a different Olympic medal at the Tokyo Olympics next year.
Mary Kom won a bronze medal at the London Olympics-2012 and with this she became the first woman boxer in India to win a medal at the Olympics. Mary Kom has qualified for the Olympics.
Mary said in Sony TV show The Medal Glory, “Whenever I am in the ring, there are many expectations from me and they remain in my mind. Many times I am not able to sleep through the night wondering what to do to improve myself, how to work on my weaknesses and other things. ”
He said, “I am still close to the prayers that are done for me.” I am still working on my strength, stemina, speed and endurance. My main goal at this time is to change the color of my medal. ”
The six-time world-winning boxer said that he had to exercise with male boxers to prepare for the London Olympics so that he could play in the 51 kg category. Mary Kom usually plays in the 48 kg category, but the Amateur International Boxing Association (AIBA) has dropped this weight from the Olympics.
So he shifted to the 51 kg category and won the bronze in the 2010 Asian Games. After this, she was successful in winning the Olympic medal. He said, “At that time I did not have the experience of 51 kg weight. I shifted my category a year ago. I have won all my world championship medals in the 48 kg category only. ”
He said that in 51 kg I had to face boxers longer than myself and their reach was also good. There are not many boxers of that length in India. So for the 2012 Olympics, I had to exercise with men. “
