The last Grand Slam US Open of the year got all its semifinalists in the singles event. In the first semi-final of the men’s category, Dominic Theme and Daniel Medvedev will face, then in the second match, there will be a fight between Alexander Zverev and Pablo Carreno Busta.
Two-time Grand Slam champion Japanese Naomi Osaka will now face Jennifer Brady of the US in the women’s section, while veteran Serena Williams, who is awaiting a record 24th Grand Slam in the second semi-final, will face Victoria Azarenka of Belgium.

Germany’s Alexander Zverev made it to the final four of the second consecutive Grand Slam by beating 1-6, 7-6, 7-6, 6-3 in a three-hour, 24-minute bout against Croatia’s Borna Coric. He is the first Germany player to reach the semi-finals of Flushing Meadows in the last 25 years. Prior to this, Boris Baker achieved this feat in 1995.
Zverev will now face Pablo Carreno Busta. Pablo reached the semi-finals of the Grand Slam for the second time by defeating Dennis Shapovalov of Canada 3-6, 7-6, 7-6, 0-6, 6-3 in a match that lasted more than four hours. This is the first time in the last 17 years that no player has won a Grand Slam, making it to the last eight of the men’s section.
Zverev also reached the semi-finals of the Australian Open earlier this year, but could not progress from there. He was then defeated by the Dominic theme. This time Theme also reached the semi-finals, making him the first Austrian player to reach the semi-finals in US Open history. Theme defeated Alex de Minor 6–1, 6–2, 6–4 in the quarterfinals.

38-year-old Serena is now two wins away from her first and record 24th Grand Slam in three years. The 31-year-old Pironkova, who was playing her first tournament in three years, may have missed a place in the final four of a Grand Slam for the second time, but she won all hearts with her game.
She reached the semi-finals of Wimbledon in 2010. To make it to the finals, Serena will take on Victoria Azarenka of Belgium, who defeated Alice Mertens 6–1, 6–0 to reach the final four with ease.
