Sawan Somvar Vrat Vidhi: This fast is observed from sunrise to the third hour. Jalabhishekam of Shivalinga is considered fruitful on this day. The people of the fast get up early in the morning. Clean the entire house and take a bath. Sit down with all the materials in front of the idol of Shiva in the temple. Take the vow of fast. Also worship Goddess Parvati with Shiva. Worshiping materials include water, milk, curd, sugar, ghee, honey, panchamrut, moli, cloth, janeu, chandan, roli, rice, flowers, bell-leaf, hemp, ak-dhatura, lotus, gatta, prasad, pan-betel nut , Cloves, cardamom, dry fruits, dakshina are offered. On this day one should perform aarti of Shiva Ji with camphor by lighting incense lamps. Listen to the fast story and chant the mantras of Shiva. The fast should be eaten once after the third stroke is over. One should sleep on the ground at night.
