Sen. Patrick Leahy, who will preside over Trump impeachment trial, was taken to hospital


A spokesman said St. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., Who presided over Trump’s impeachment trial, was taken to the hospital on Tuesday.

Leahy, 80, who sits third in the line of succession as Senate President Pro Tempore, was just sworn in to preside over the impeachment trial.

The Senate is split 50–50 between Republicans and Democrats and Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris. If a seat was vacant or senators were unable to vote, the balance of power could be maintained.
