Dead body recovered after crash of small plane off Florida coast

Rescuers recovered an autopsy inside an aircraft that crashed off the South Florida coast Sunday night, according to the US Coast Guard.

Officials said in an email to NBC News that divers from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office found the corpse of 24-year-old Abhishek Pepper at around 11 a.m. Monday.

The authority was searching for the only living petter of the single-engine Piper PA-28 after going down near Boynton Beach Inlet around 8pm on Sunday.

“Our sincere condolences to the family who lost their loved one,” said Capt. Jo-Ann Burdian, commander of Coast Guard Area Miami. “The Coast Guard and our partner agencies participating in this search really hope for a different outcome for this sad situation.”

Officers from the Boynton Beach Police Department and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, along with the Coast Guard and the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, were involved in the search.

NBC News South Florida reported that the plane was diverted from Palm Beach County Park Airport to Merritt Island Airport.
