Jessica Campbell, best known for her roles in the 1999 film “Election” and died in the classic series “Freaks and Geeks”, 38.
Campbell’s family announced that the actor died on December 29 in Portland, Oregon. Campbell retired from acting to become a naturopath, and he collapsed after seeing patients in his practice. She was unable to be revived and the cause of her death is to be determined.
Campbell first appeared in the 1992 TV film “In the Best in the Children”, starring Sarah Jessica Parker. His major film role was in the comic satire “Election” in 1999 with Matthew Broderick and Reese Witherspoon.
She played the angsty sister of school jock Paul (Chris Klein), whose girlfriend dumps her and leaves her for Paul. To get revenge, she runs against him for class president. The performance earned him an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best Performance.
The actor also appeared as Amy Andrews in “Freaks and Geeks”, a tuba player in McKille High’s marching band. She briefly dates Kane (Seth Rogen) and later discovers that she was born intersex.
Campbell also starred in the drama film “The Safety of Objects” opposite Glenn Close and Dermott Mulroney as well as the 2002 “Junk” and “Dad’s Day”.
Campbell’s cousin Sarah Wessling set up a GoFundMe campaign to pay for funeral costs and to pay for Campbell’s 10-year-old son, Oliver. Wessling wrote on the GoFundMe page, “A true adventurer in every sense of the word, Jessica packs a staggering amount of experiences in her tragic lifetime.”
