AK vs AK Movie Review: Anil Kapoor and Anurag Kashyap’s onscreen rivalry is entertaining in parts (latest exclusive) in this meta black comic thriller

Ak vs ak movie review: AK vs AK An interesting experiment, okay. The actor playing himself in a meta thriller embedded with a dose of Kali humor is a possible genre rarely explored in Hindi cinema. Even the production of the film, shot through a simulated style, adds a quirky nature to the entire complex. Even more interestingly, both Anil Kapoor and Anurag Kashyap once had a real-life quarrel before burying their differences. No, I’m not talking about a more attractive publicist for them AK vs AK. AK vs AK: Did you know that Anil Kapoor and Anurag Kashyap once made a film for Real Over?

In 2003, Kashyap was to direct Anil Kapoor in a serious crime thriller, Allvin Kalicharan, But Kapoor dropped out of the film after the first day of shooting, and left the film. this Allvin Kalicharan Is referred to many times in AK vs AK, We wonder if we could have a potentially long con game played between Kapoor and Kashyap.

In AK vs AK, Both play themselves, but exaggerate their intoxication. At the beginning of the film, Kapoor wants Kashyap to direct her in a film, a proposal that the latter brushes with contempt. The conversation takes place just before the chat show hosted by film critic Sucharita Tyagi, where the two insult each other until Kashyap loses his infamous nature and throws water at Kapoor.

This incident puts the director in more trouble, as the industry is mostly with Kapoor, and he finds himself out of work. Not even Nawazuddin Siddiqui (in a very loud voice cameo) wants to work with him.

A hurt Kashyap decides to take revenge on Kapoor, and at the suggestion of his documentary filmmaker partner (slash girlfriend) Yogita, he kidnaps his daughter, actress Sonam, giving Kapoor a few hours before sunrise with a realistic cinema Decided to make. To take him out. That too on the actor’s birthday!

Of course, there are rules. Kapoor cannot call the police nor tell his family about him. He cannot hurt Kashyap. And when he has to talk on the phone, he has to be on the speaker. Also, the camera cranked by Yogita will continue to follow them, never stopping for a single moment. But this does not stop Kapoor from breaking certain rules and noses, as the night gets messed up and gets blood and twistier.

watch the trailer:

AK vs AK Kashyap’s favorite collaborator, Vikramaditya Motwane, is directed by two of his leads, in addition to trolling the film himself. As an experiment, AK vs AK Works somewhat to break Bollywood’s traditional storytelling format, while sarcasm at the black humor doll that Kashyap’s dialogues have to offer.

This complex has a bit of David Fincher sport And a bit of Frank Oz Bowfinger There, and also affects Borat And It’s the end. And at one point, AK vs AK Even threatened to change into a Bollywood Kapoor’s fabulous life.

I especially loved the whole first act which sets up Kashyap’s cinematic vengeance on Kapoor. They are jealous throwing at each other, and some comic sequences (Kashyap Soch Kapoor sent some birthday cake only to him to realize he was a survivor) provide plenty of entertainment. Anil Kapoor released a video apology for the trailer of AK vs AK after the Air Force items, Team Netflix says, ‘We never intended to disrespect the armed forces’.

As the action later moved to Anil Kapoor’s house, the bus got better. It gives a glimpse of Boney Kapoor, even the producer has some acting chops, but the absolute scene-stealer is Harshvardhan Kapoor which could be his career-best performance till date. The actor plays the whimsical image that is believed to be about him in the media, and extracts some laughter from him. The scene where he thinks that Kashyap is making a hostage film with Kapoor (which he really is) and involves himself in the plot is absolutely breathtaking, with the camera fully trained on him. When AK vs AK Meta Fun offers dolls, where it is the most entertaining.

Unfortunately, here is also where the film stumbles, when it reminds AK vs AK There is also a mortgage thriller. Like the police in the scene at Dindoshi police station in the film, it is difficult for us to believe that the stakes in the entire kidnapping plot are real. Even when Kashyap and Kapoor get into fiction. Or when Kapoor chases a kidnapper in a local train and then collides with a car. Or when Kapoor goes against Kashyap’s expectations that the film will not give him a chance to share his inner thoughts and start monologue. It all feels like the two are trying to audition for a distant thriller that will never be made.

However it is nothing on the actors. Anil Kapoor is a complete treat to watch here, never for the moment going on screen for that spiritual mood to tell the viewer that nothing is real to his character. Super-energetic and never flinching with cuss words, Kapoor plays himself in perhaps his most experimental film.

As an actor, Kashyap is much better than the films I’ve seen him before, especially in scenes where he has to feature the film when he goes beyond the film’s screenplay.

Like with the actors, I can’t really find the blame for obesity, as The flight The filmmaker does his best with the unconventionality of it all, while shaking (and burning) a little head for his own Bhavesh Joshi Superhero In action. What I did not realize, however, is that the entire documentary-style filmmaking and metering of the characters did not gel well for a serious piece of cinema, which creates shaky problems. Or it may be that Sonam was the most unaffiliated hostage in the history of cinema.

The finale also has a very large twist (it is also a bit predictable) which seems a bit difficult to digest. In Retrospect, some of the scenes make sense after the twist, but this makes the whole narrative more irrational than Kapoor’s Pagalpanti. At least, we get a scene where Harshvardhan shouts “Justice !!!” In action!

PS – During the MAMI chat show, Anurag claims that Anil was Mr. India in 2020. But the film that remains after that is in 2019. Do I remember traveling to Shennigan for some time?

– Anil Kapoor and Anurag Kashyap

– The Irreverent Humor

– Harshvardhan Kapoor’s cameo

– Betting seems less than crisis demand

– Third Act twist is formulaic, predictable and at times, indigestible

final thoughts

As an experimental black comic thriller, AK vs AK Anil works to do something different based on a sports performance by Kapoor. The film certainly had potential and saves some good burns, but it doesn’t work well as a serious thriller AK vs AK Turns in the second half. AK vs AK Is streaming on Netflix.
