Explicit social media stunt leads to more than a dozen arrests in Miami

Drivers who were seen on video blocked traffic making donuts at the center of an intersection made more than a dozen arrests Friday night in Miami Beach.

The suspects are believed to be part of a “car club” that conducted similar stunts in Miramar before moving on to Dad, Miami and Miami Beach, Miami Beach Police Officer Ernesto Rodriguez said on Saturday in a Twitter thread said in. At around 11:52 a.m. officers were informed of traffic concerns and the suspects fled after they arrived.

According to Rodriguez, the suspects were eventually apprehended and arrested on narcotics felony.

“The MBPD is monitoring these groups and will try to prevent these incidents in the future,” Rodriguez said. “It was a very busy night in Miami Beach. More than a dozen arrests were made late in the evening alone. “

The video, recorded by Miami-based artist Havi Shanz, shows drivers making donuts at the center of an intersection at least seven minutes before police arrive and people leave the scene.

In the video, several people were seen driving the car, recording them on camera while they were driving.

Police told NBC Miami that the suspects were allegedly driving recklessly to post on social media. Rodriguez did not immediately respond to a request for more information from NBC News on Sunday.
