NFL veteran Marcus Smith II is releasing, “Bathtime with Rai”, a new children’s book that he hopes will resonate with the “modern black dads of the world”.
“The book was written for the world’s modern black dads and the world’s little brown girls,” Smith told Access in an interview. “I just want to ask for black fathers to tell us that we are here and that there are little dads out there, for little girls who are trying to be the best dads possible.”
Smith, 28, is a proud father of Sarai, 2. His new book, “Bathtime with Rai,” celebrates the bond between father and daughter.
The book’s description reads, “From melancholy moments to laughter, chuckle with the bathtub, Rai exchanged love with joy during all the night’s rituals.”
Smith, drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles during the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft, told Access that he takes parenting inspiration from Kobe Bryant, who was the father of a proud girl.
“I look at the relationship between her and her daughters, and I think that’s what the daughter / father relationship should be like,” Smith said. “I try to get away from some of the same morals and principles that Kobe did.”
In June, Smith shared a cute picture of Rai reading a book, wearing a cute pink bonnet as she sat on her father’s lap.
“I am a black man! And black father! I build …. I do not tear other Black men! …. I have felt the pain of being torn and I have decided that I would think about construction – Will discuss. Others! Often, we men find it easier to criticize each other than to criticize each other, “he wrote.” With negativity all around let’s do something positive !! “
For Smith, the best part of being Rae’s father is “looking at Rae in his eyes and saying,” Wow, man, me and my wife made him, “he told Access.” He’s a beautiful person. ” I think that is the most beneficial thing. “
“Bathtime with Rai” will be available to purchase on December 2.
